]]> Harrison Hot Springs is a small BC town located just 90 minutes outside of Vancouver. On the edge of Harrison Lake, it’s surrounded by mountains and is a beautiful gem in the Fraser Valley. While the hot springs are the big draw, there are plenty of amazing nature activities in the area, making it a perfect escape from the city. It’s a great place to recharge with gorgeous views of the lake and mountains, and a quaint village to explore. 

One of the things we love most about living in BC is how LGBTQ+ friendly it is, even in its small towns. We always feel comfortable travelling as a same-sex couple, and can recommend Harrison as a safe destination for others. Harrison Hot Springs always feels welcoming when we visit. The local business owners are warm and friendly, and it’s easy to feel right at home. Be sure to include it on your BC travels!

]]> Malcolm Island is a beautiful hidden gem in our home province of British Columbia. The Northern Gulf Island is in the Queen Charlotte Strait off the coast of Vancouver Island, and is truly a quiet little paradise. The secluded island destination is popular for whale watching, and there is so much incredible wild life and sea life to appreciate. We spent our visit hiking, exploring the small town of Sointula, and enjoying the beaches with stunning ocean views.

BC is incredibly LGBTQ+ friendly, even in the most remote corners of the province. We have always felt safe travelling in British Columbia as an open lesbian couple, and we love encouraging travellers to visit the province we call home! Malcolm Island is a warm and welcoming place with friendly locals, lovely business owners, and an inclusive, open-minded, culture. We felt right at home during our visit and cannot recommend it enough!

]]> We were blown away by our trip to Panama and everything the country has to offer! We tried to explore as much as we could during our stay, and we came away with some truly unforgettable memories. We based ourselves in Panama City and took day trips to the Panama Canal, the Gamboa Rainforest Reserve, and the San Blas Islands. We ate local Panamanian food, snorkelled in the Caribbean, visited a sloth sanctuary, took an air tram through the rainforest, island hopped in the most remote location we’ve ever been, and watched boats pass through the famous Canal.

Panama still has work to do when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights for their citizens, but they do seem to be on the right path. We personally felt safe during our trip and never went out of our way to hide our relationship from locals. We can definitely recommend visiting! There is so much to discover and experience, and it is truly a unique destination. Our visit gave us some of our all time favourite travel memories.
